The University of the Incarnate Word hosted a three-day international academic symposium featuring dignitaries from nearly a dozen universities from as many countries throughout the world.
The symposium, which focused on the organizational responsibility needed in a global environment, took place from Oct. 22-24 2002 at the International Conference Center.
Many of the speakers represented academic institutions that have entered into sister school agreements for reciprocal education with UIW.
Speakers included Amb. James Creagan, president of John Cabot University in Rome; Prof. Zhang Miaodi, president of Beijing Union University in China; and Dr. Alexi Nechaev, director of international programs at Samara State University in Russia.
“This is the first time in the history of UIW that we have had such a large and diverse representation on our campus from our sister schools,“ said Dr. Patricia Burr, Dean of International Programs.
“We were honored that they took the time to be with us during this week of academic sharing,“ Burr added.
