The Profession
A professional interior designer is one qualified by education and experience to identify, to research and to solve creatively problems relative to the function and quality of man’s proximate environment. The professional’s competency includes fundamental design, design analysis, space planning and programming; the design of all interior spaces and an understanding of other aspects of environmental design. An interior designer is recognized professionally after having completed an accredited education and/or a minimum requirement in practical interior design or related field and having passed the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) exam.

Interior Environmental Design Program
The Program is one of only thirteen programs in the State of Texas accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) http://accredit-id.org CIDA provides quality assurance for interior design education by accrediting programs that lead to a specific degree, diploma, or certificate.
The Program instructs students in both residential and commercial design and provides students with the skills and tools necessary for careers in interior design, either as employees of a design firm or as self-employed designers.
Students study architectural skills and learn to relate space to the building envelope so that the living or working environment is aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly.
