Honors Program Application Instructions
To The Honors Program Applicant:
Applicants to the UIW Honors Program must meet these requirements:
- Are incoming freshmen for the new fall semester
- Have submitted an application for admission to the University
In addition, candidates generally meet the following standards:
- Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.5
- Total SAT score (Verbal, Math, Writing) of 1800 and/or total ACT score (English, Reading, Math) of 81 (Composite of 27)
Honors program applications require 1) a written essay and 2) a teacher recommendation. Instructions for the teacher recommendation are on the required form.
Places are limited; therefore, send your application in as soon as possible. All applications must be received in the UIW Admissions Office no later than May 1.
Essay Instructions
The essay should be no more than 500 words in length. Make sure your name is on the essay document. Upload the essay with the application form. If you prefer, mail to the Office of Admissions at the following address:

Essay Topic:
Describe the community you live in; it could be as large as a country or an international organization, or it could be as small as your school or a favorite local charity. Then explain how you see your role as a contributing member of that community and what effect you hope your contribution will make to it.
Selection Process
Selected applicants will be required to interview with the Honors Council as part of the final application process. Once the interviews are completed, the Honors Council will make its final decisions and offer invitations to the chosen applicants.
