Delta Mu Delta is a business honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a DMD community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through life-time membership.
Delta Mu Delta was founded by the Dean from Harvard University and four professors from Yale University and New York University in November, 1913.
Delta Mu Delta, DMD, was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1952.
In 1963 DMD was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies, ACHS, an organization of nearly 70 member international honor societies whose objective is to maintain high standards for the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in higher education.
In 1992 the Society established an affiliation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, ACBSP.
Delta Mu Delta is the International Honor Society for business programs accredited by ACBSP at the baccalaureate, graduate and doctoral levels.

The Greek letters in the Society’s name stand for

signifying Delta Mu Delta’s motto:

the power to manage creatively for social and economic good.
Becoming a member of Delta Mu Delta is an honor indicative of earnest, intelligent purpose and rewarding achievement. This should be a goal of every person pursuing a degree in business administration where Delta Mu Delta membership is possible.
The standards of Delta Mu Delta are high. Although many may not gain the Key, they should remember that the hard work done will bring its own rewards.
An invitation to join the Delta Mu Delta chapter on your campus confirms that you have a proven track record of working hard to achieve excellence in your studies. It shows that you have the knowledge and drive to succeed in a business career. Membership in Delta Mu Delta is the highest international recognition you can earn. List it on your resume as a signal to future employers of your record. Wear the DMD Key and display your certificate at your place of work.
Being selected for Delta u Delta Facebook creates a network of 150,000 members who share your passion for excellence and can help you continue your education by “learning on the job.” At the Delta Mu Delta Instagram, Twitter and Facebook page to create peer-to-peer networking and enhance job searches. You can join regional groups, business specialty groups, and chapter groups and create a group that reflects your interests. Many campus chapters provide events for alumni members to network with corporate and continue their education with speaker events.
In 2016, Delta Mu Delta will provide $64,000 in scholarships to ensure that exceptional students in the Society can continue their education. This represents a 50% increase in scholarship funds in the past five years. More information is available at our scholarship page.
Membership in Delta Mu Delta fulfills one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level in numerous professional and technical positions within federal service. This enables DMD members to start their government career at a higher level of salary than might otherwise be possible.
In addition to the Linked-In and Facebook sites, Delta Mu Delta publishes The Vision twice yearly. The Vision keeps members up to date on the work of the Society and its 300 chapters as well as current business issues. Sample the publication online. Delta Mu Delta’s commitment to advancing your knowledge of business includes access to Bloomberg Businessweek in print or on-line form. New inductees automatically receive a one-year subscription (50 issues).
