(August 1, 2015) – The University of the Incarnate Word’s H-E-B School of Business & Administration (HEBSBA) has maintained registration with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) to provide a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a career path in Financial Planning.

An independent certifying organization, CFP Board owns the CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIALPLANNER™ certification marks, which it awards to individuals who meet its education, examination, experience, ethics and other requirements. Students completing the financial planning program at the H-E-B School of Business & Administration will have met the Education requirement for CFP® Certification Examination administered by CFP Board.

“CFP Board is pleased to have an educational institution of the caliber of the University of the Incarnate Word offering a CFP Board Registered Program,” said Richard P. Rojeck, CFP®, chair of CFP Board’s Board of Directors. “As student interest in financial planning as a career continues to grow, we anticipate that the H-E-B School of Business & Administration’s program will contribute significantly to the number of qualified candidates seeking to attain the CFP® certification, the standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planning.”

Building upon previous years, the HEBSBA’s Finance program was applauded for making strides in the utilization of applicable learner-centered objectives in course syllabi, the establishment of a program advisory board and the implementation of new strategies for developing a student chapter of Financial Planning Association (FPA). “Strengths we identified include establishment of the Financial Resource Center; student success in the 2014 NAGDCA Retirement Quiz Bowl; and an agreement with national FPA which will increase students experience with professionals in the field,” wrote CFP Board’s Director of Academic Programs and Initiatives Dr. Charles Chaffin.

“Through the hard work and dedication of our finance faculty, we are pleased to renew our partnership with the CFP Board,” said Dean of the HEBSBA Dr. Forrest Aven. “Our students will continue to receive the highest standard in financial planning education in the industry.” Persons interested in the program should send inquires to Dr. Alicia Rodriguez de Rubio at alrodri4@uiwtx.edu

Today, CFP Board partners with over 360 programs at more than 225 institutions. CFP Board-Registered Programs are financial planning education programs at the college or university level that meet specific criteria for educating individuals who wish to fulfill the education component for obtaining CFP® certification.

The HEBSBA also partners with the CFP Board to provide certification opportunities to individuals interested in becoming Certified Financial Planners.
