H-E-B School of Business and Administration
Degree Overview
Students specializing in Economics and Finance are prepared for careers in private and public employment in the fields of banking, investments, financial management, securities markets, and international financial markets. Students are equipped to function in today’s global business environment. The specialization is an excellent preparation for the M.B.A. and other graduate programs.
Extracurricular Activities
Outside the classroom, Marketing students have a range of activities to engage in that will supplement their in-class learning, provide them the chance to hone their marketing, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and promote personal growth and development.
Participation in the UIW chapter of the American Marketing Association, Business Club, and Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society is strongly encouraged. Through these organizations, students ply their marketing skills while working on organization sponsored projects and events that are designed for the purpose of helping those less fortunate in the local community.
Networking with the local business community is possible through these student organizations, an ongoing campus speaker series, and regular monthly meetings with the Mexican American Business Institute (MABI), a key supporter of the HEBSBA Business Plan Competition.
With over 90 sister schools, UIW provides students an eclectic array of options for doing study abroad. Most recently, Marketing students have had enriching study abroad experiences in a number of exciting countries including, China, Korea, France, Germany, Italy, the U.K. and Mexico.
