H-E-B School of Business and Administration

Degree Overview
The BBA program in Banking and Finance at UIW is designed to provide our community with students who have the required skills to be successful in management positions not only in the banking and financial service industry, but also in business firms or governmental organizations. In addition, this program looks to develop global and social leaders who can direct their companies and institutions to new paths of financial and economic growth that spill out wealth to the whole community.

The Banking and Finance concentration introduces students to the science of fund management in its three different areas: business, personal and public. This degree gives to its students a professional and deep knowledge of financial key concepts such as time value of money, capital budgeting, asset valuation, personal financial planning, and risk and return.

Currently, this program offers two different career paths: (1) Banking and (2) Financial Planning. The Banking career path allows our students to improve their conceptual and practical knowledge on financial institutions, while the Financial Planning career path prepares students in areas of Personal Finance such as risk management and insurance, estate planning, investment planning, retirement, among others. This career path in Financial Planning is recognized by the CFP ® Board as a registered program. http://www.cfp.net/become/programs.asp
