Criminal Justice Club

Criminal Justice Student organization (Tau Sigma Chi)

During the last few years there has been an increasing amount of students within the Criminal Justice program. In the spring of 2014 Faye Gamez, Julie Tamez, Kassandra Villarreal, Susie Guerrero, Kayla Gloria, and Justin Ramirez decided to start adopt a student chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association- Lambda Alpha Epsilon. This group of students charted UIW’s chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon and named it Tau Sigma Chi (ΤΣΧ).

The organization first official event was participation in the Southwestern Association of Criminal Justice (SWACJ) fall 2014 in South Padre Island, TX. At the SWACJ annual meeting the students assisted one of the organizations faculty advisors with a presentation on Establishing Paternity Relevance and Application to the Criminal Justice System. Then in the spring of 2015 the organization had the opportunity to attend the 78th National Conference in Nashville, TN. The organization has annual fundraisers to financially support the important work they do outside of the university.
