First Year Engagement Team

The FYE Team supports students through their first year at UIW.

Raúl regularly advises first-year students in addition to overseeing the overall FYE program. He has been a part of the First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005. Before joining the FYE Team, Raúl served at Northwest Vista College as an Adjunct Instructor and Student Success Specialist.

Raúl received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of of Arts in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Rochelle Ramirez, Peer Mentor Coordinator & First Year Advisor

Rochelle has been a part of the UIW First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005. She oversees the Peer Mentor program, which currently consists of 29 peer mentors. Rochelle also serves as an advisor to first-year students.

Rochelle received her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology and Master of Arts in Administration with a concentration in Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Kristy Pacheco, Student Engagement Specialist

Kristy is a new member of the team. She assists with development and oversight of the Peer Mentor Program. She also serves an advisor to first-year students. Kristy is excited to meet all first-year students and be a part of the Student Success Team!

Kristy received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from Texas State University.
