First Year Engagement Team

Raul, Rochelle, and Kristy, along with the Peer Mentors are here to support students through their first year at UIW.

 

Raúl Zendejas, First Year Engagement Coordinator

Raúl regularly advises first-year students in addition to overseeing the overall FYE program. He has been a part of the First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005.

Before joining the FYE Team, Raúl served at Northwest Vista College as an Adjunct Instructor and Student Success Specialist. Raúl received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of of Arts in Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Rochelle Ramirez, Peer Mentor Coordinator & First Year Advisor

Rochelle coordinates the Peer Mentor program and serves as an advisor to first-year students. She has been a part of the UIW First Year Engagement program since its conception in 2005.

Rochelle received her Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology and Master of Arts in Administration with a concentration in Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Kristy Pacheco, Student Engagement Specialist

Kristy facilitates the FAQ sessions at Freshman Orientation and serves as an advisor to Alpha Lambda Delta First Year Honor Society. She also assists with the development and coordination of the Peer Mentor Program. Kristy is excited to meet all first-year students and be a part of the Student Success Team!

Kristy received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from Texas State University.
