On Oct. 27 and 28, 2017, Dreeben School of Education Dean and Associate Provost Denise Staudt, Ed.D., and Assistant Professor with Teacher Education, Stephanie Grote-Garcia Ph.D., presented literacy workshops for English Coordinators and teachers at the Instituto Miguel Ángel de Occidente in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Staudt and Grote-Garcia lead professional development workshops for elementary, middle school and high school teachers. English Coordinators from various CCVI schools across Mexico participated in this event. The training addressed a range of topics from grammar to technology use in the classroom.
“This was my third time to visit Guadalajara and to lead these professional developments. Each visit has deepened my understanding of Dual Language and Bilingual Education,” said Grote-Garcia. “I have also met wonderful teachers who care deeply about their students. I look forward to more trainings in the future.”
The Dreeben School of Education and the Instituto Miguel Ángel de Occidente have partnered for the past 10 years. UIW faculty visit Guadalajara twice a year to conduct teacher workshops for the school.
