Individuals with mobility impairment who have a verifiable necessity to access specific programs and activities offered in the Genevieve Tarlton Dougherty Fine Arts Center should submit a request for accommodation at http://www.uiw.edu/ada/. The City of San Antonio has closed all westbound traffic on Hildebrand between Broadway and the San Antonio River for work on an 18-month project. Traffic on Hildebrand will flow east bound only. This work will affect roadways and entrances to the University of the Incarnate Word's main campus. Intermittent gate closures should be expected, please allow extra time for your commute.

UIW Construction Update

Note: It is illegal to walk through a construction zone. This may result in fines if caught by City Officers. In addition to being illegal, if an injury occurs, insurance may not cover the medical expense.

Monday June 10, 2013 - Saturday June 15, 2013:

• Hildebrand Ave. between San Antonio River and Broadway St.
• The northern lane (closest to University of the Incarnate Word) will be restricted
• The southern lane (closest to AT&T) will be restricted
• Traffic will be shifted to the center

Hildebrand Ave. between Broadway St. and New Braunfels Ave.

• The southern side of Hildebrand (closest to the Broadway Condos) will be restricted
• Traffic will be shifted to the north side

Broadway between Groveland Pl. and Hildebrand Ave.

• The two northbound lanes (closest to the Broadway Condos) will be restricted
• Traffic will be shifted west; two lanes in the northbound direction will remain open

Broadway at Allensworth

• Single lane restrictions during daytime hours

Sunday June 16, 2013:

• No work Scheduled

***Between 9AM to 5PM Monday-Friday Hildebrand will be reduced to one travel lane***

Monday, May 13 - Saturday, August 10, 2013:

UPDATE:

From May 13 - Aug. 10, the roadway parallel to Hildebrand between Bonilla Science Hall and Nursing, will be closed for construction.

If you are coming to UIW from the east, enter at Burr Rd., turn right towards Joyce and then Traffic will flow reverse up the “Cat Walk” driveway (between Joyce and the Generalate) to access the back of campus/athletic areas. To access Broadway or the front of campus from the back/ athletic areas, exit the construction gate (southwest of the Nursing Building) and turn left onto Hildebrand (East Bound) towards Broadway, you may re-enter campus at the Burr Rd. gate.

If you are coming to UIW from the West, it is best to enter using the 281 entrance (located on the north bound entrance ramp of 281). This entrance will give you access to the ICC, McCombs Center, Sky Room, Athletic area and other facilities.

To exit, go back up the hill to access Hildebrand West or 281. To access Broadway or the front of campus from the back, exit the construction gate (southwest of the Nursing Building) and turn left onto Hildebrand (East Bound) towards Broadway, you may re-enter campus at the Burr Rd. gate.

NOTE: There is currently a lot of heavy machine digging on Hildebrand.  Because of the dry conditions, we have noticed an increase in dust.  We suggest avoiding parking along Hildebrand if you wish to minimize the amount of dust on your vehicle.
