The University of the Incarnate Word has achieved yet another important
milestone in its mission to globalize. Incarnate Word has become the
only American university granted approval by the government of the Peoples
Republic of China to offer fully accredited American degrees without
students having to leave China.
This historic development was made possible because of a previous collaboration between Incarnate Word and South China Normal University in Guangzhou, which is rated in the Top 45 of the 1,100 universities operating in China.
China Incarnate Word operates in conjunction with South China Normal
and Hua Li College, allowing students at CIW to earn an Incarnate Word
degree without leaving China.
It works this way: After completing an intensive English language program,
the students will begin their studies, taught in English, in one of two
academic areas that lead to an Incarnate Word associates or bachelors
degree. They are:
As of last fall, approximately 150 students were pursuing their academic dreams at CIW. Students choosing to go on for a bachelors degree after earning their associate's will then have several options. These include staying at CIW in China; studying at an English language university elsewhere in the world; or finishing their bachelors at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
