Psi Chi is the international honor society in psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of “encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.” Membership in this organization depends on academic achievement—check your UIW email box each semester for an invitation to join, or self-nominate (see criteria below).

  • Be enrolled as a UIW student (or EAP and CIW student)
  • Have completed at least 24 credit hours overall, and at least 9 credit hours of psychology courses.
  • Be a PSYC major or minor
  • Have a psychology GPA that is at least 3.00
  • Have an overall GPA that is in the top 35% of their class – this cutoff is posted and changes each semester!

Each semester UIW Psi Chi sends invitations to eligible candidates via UIW email after we determine the semester’s top 35% in each of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes. Because the GPA “cutoff” changes each semester, a student who qualifies for Psi Chi membership one semester may not necessarily qualify in the following semester SO it is to the candidate’s advantage to join when invited rather than delay joining until the following semester.

February 16th 9AM-4PM: SASH Valentine’s Day Party

First, we will help organize the resale shop and visit medical records to view old patient files and hear a history of SASH record keeping. SASH will provide lunch and follow with a tour of the cemetery. Lastly, we will head over to Houston Hall and host a Valentine’s themed party for patients. At the party, we’ll play bingo with the patients and help them with arts and crafts. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the history of SASH and interact with its patients.

March 23rd 3-5PM: SWPA Preview Day

UIW SWPA presenters talk about the research they’ll be presenting at SWPA to other UIW students. Along with student presentations, attendees will be treated with a presentation given by Dr. Boswell on what conferences are, why they’re important, and how they work.
