Athletic Training Education Program

Welcome, Potential Students!

Our Athletic Training Program is one of the newest academic major programs at the University. We encourage you to review the materials on the web site and come visit our students and staff.

An athletic trainer is a qualified health care professional educated and experienced in the management of injuries and health care problems associated with exercise and sports participation. In cooperation with physicians and other health care professionals, the athletic trainer functions as a member of the athletic health care team.

Students in the program will be actively engaged in the learning process during the lecture sessions, lab activities, simulation lab, and clinical experiences. Our academic staff along with the clinical preceptors work together to provide the student with a progressive and sequential series of steps in learning, practicing and utilizing the skills of the profession. It is the aim that the student will gain a broad and strong foundation of knowledge and skills in the profession of athletic training.

At the end of the academic and clinical components of the program, the student will have the skills to be a competent entry-level athletic trainer.
