Welcome to the home of the University of the Incarnate Word Athletics. This site contains information about all sports offered at the university as well as information about the coaches, the staff, the UIW Athletic Hall of Fame, camps, facilities and links of interest to sports fans.
With the recent announcements of football and men's swimming, the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio offers nine men's and 10 women's sports. The Cardinals are members of the NCAA Division II. Incarnate Word also competes as a charter member of the Heartland Conference. All UIW teams are eligible for post-season competition in Division II, some through conference championships and others with an at-large berth.
LOUGH RECEIVES HEARTLAND AWARD Incarnate Word’s B. J. Lough has been named athletic trainer of the year in the Heartland Conference for 2008-2009.
UIW FOOTBALL TRAINING CAMP UPCOMING June is winding down, the daily temperature hovers near the 100 mark, and that must mean Incarnate Word Cardinals football is straight ahead on the calendar.
UIW CARDINALS NAME BARNES TO STAFF Kevin Barnes is the new operations manager for Incarnate Word’s athletic department having joined the Cardinals’ staff in mid-June.
UIW TEAMS TOP HEARTLAND IN THREE SPORTS Three Incarnate Word athletic teams posted the highest cumulative grade points averages in their sports according to the annual report issued by the Heartland Conference.
UIW ON FINAL DIRECTOR'S CUP LIST The final standings for the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup have been compiled and Incarnate Word is on the list announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
