UIW Arts and Culture
University of the Incarnate Word offers myriad opportunities for students, faculty and staff to experience the culture of San Antonio and South Texas, both on campus, and off.
Incarnate Words Theatre Arts program provides students with a strong foundation in the performing arts, a foundation that will enable them to pursue educational and/or professional opportunities in theatre. The Theatre Arts Department presents its theatrical productions in two theatres located on the UIW campus. This program is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Theatre. It is one of the few accredited programs in the state.
Also on campus, the Art Department shows student work in on-campus venues such as the Semmes Gallery and other spaces.
Off campus, the vibrant city of San Antonio is a mecca for Hispanic arts, and home to the McNay Museum of Art, the San Antonio Museum of Art, and the Museo Alameda, a branch of the Smithsonian Institution dedicated to Hispanic art and culture.
