Alumni Newsletter
September 2002

By the time you read this, and if enrollment projections hold, the University of the Incarnate Word may well be the largest Catholic university in Texas. We already know it is the best, right? And enrollment at both high schools is also good.

SEPTEMBER 11TH MEMORIAL OBSERVANCE
Planning is still ongoing for all day observances on the campuses in memory
of the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and remembering the countless
thousands of people who gave so much of themselves in the aftermath of that
disaster. For those of you who are out of the city, state and nation you
may join us at any time by clicking into the Jordan Carillon
http://www.uiw.edu/crusadercam/index.htm which should be live all day for
observances, especially from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. CST. If you spend
some time with us in prayer, or light a candle where you are, we can be
together in this memorial. You can find a complete listing of the 9/11/01
victims at http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/memorial/
and you may wish to select a name or names to remember in a special way on
this day. Also, watch the Alumni Calendar at www.uiw.edu.

These members will be included in university mailings and publications and invited to UIW events.

PHONATHONS 2002
This fall the university and the high schools will conduct their phonathons for the annual fund. The high schools call alumni and alumnae over a period of a few weeks. The university callers begin in September and call throughout the school year. University alumni receive a letter informing them that they will be getting a call soon. The annual fund supports university operations, mostly through tuition grants to students, and these funds are very much needed.

And when a student calls, please be sure all of your information is updated, including your email address and birthday.
