Moisés J. Torrescano,M. Ed.
Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising
In his present capacity, Mr. Torrescano oversees the University’s academic advising program.His experience in higher education administration expands over 25 years. Before joining Incarnate Word, he served at three other universities in various capacities, including assistant affirmative action officer for The Pennsylvania State University System; director of TRIO/Upward Bound, adjunct faculty in foreign languages and anthropology at Boise State University; associate director of the High School Equivalency Program and assistant director of Science Support Services at Washington State University.
Mr. Torrescano grew up in a farm-working family in the State of Washington and is a first-generation college student.He received his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Washington State University and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education from The Pennsylvania State University. David DeRouen, Academic Counselor
David DeRouen, Academic Counselor, is a recent addition to the Academic Advising staff. David is a veteran US Air Force Air Weapons Director having served 16 years before retiring. He was a first-generation college student and is an alumni of UIW, graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. David is pursuing a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Organizational Learning.

Sara Ann Leal, Academic Counselor
Sara Ann Leal, Academic Counselor, is a recent addition to the Academic Advising staff. She was a first-generation college student and alumni of Our Lady of the Lake University, where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 2005. Sara is currently pursuing her Masters of Education in Organizational Learning from UIW. Sara is the Area Coordinator for the HEB School of Business and Administration and the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Roland Sul, Academic Counselor
Roland Sul, Academic Counselor, is a first-generation college student and is an alumni of UIW, graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences and is currently working on his Master of Arts in Communication Arts.

Cynthia Pino, Academic Counselor, Student Disability Services
Cynthia Pino has been the Academic Counselor of Student Disability Services since August 2007. She was previously employed with the McNair Scholars Program as the program secretary for two and a half years. Cynthia has been an outstanding member of the UIW community and we are excited to have her on board.
Cynthia is passionate about pursuing higher education and working with diverse populations. In May 2007, she graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with a B.S. in Psychology. Kedra Grant, Secretary Undergraduate Academic Advising
Kedra Grant has been the Secretary of Undergraduate Academic Advising since March 2007. She was a work study for Advising for a year and a half. Kedra is the critical hub of our office and we are lucky to have her.
