At UIW, we think student and faculty interaction is vital to a successful university experience. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 14 to 1 and an average class size of 25, students build relationships that extend beyond the classroom, providing a solid foundation for your child's future. UIW offers 70 undergraduate and graduate programs and a professional school of pharmacy. Students have a wide variety of academic disciplines to choose from, invluding those in education, business, health professions, visual and performaing arts, and the sciences.
UIW Study Abroad
At UIW, students are encouraged to learn about other cultures and broaden their global perspective. Incarnate Word is proud to be a leader in international education and offers 90- study abroad programs in 31 countries. Your child can spend a summer, semester, or year studying abroad and receive credit for their efforts. On-campus housing and financial assistance are available.
Honors Program
The University of the Incarnate Word offers an interdisciplinary Honors Program to students with excellent academic credentials, a love of learning and a desire to make a positive difference in the world. The concepts of social justice and community service are woven throughout the core curriculum and cocurricular programming. In the program, students will discover what it means to be socially responsible and gain confidence as community citizen-leaders.
Affordability
We understand the challenges students and parents face in making private education a reality for their children. Providing an affordable education to all is important to UIW. In fact, approximately 80 percent of UIW students receive some form of financial assistance. Each year, more than $57 million is awarded in scholarships, work study, grants, and loans. In addition, UIW is proud to have been ranked by Consumers Digest as a best value for private schools in the nation.
Campus Life
- Ten student dormitories feature single, double, and triple living accomodations
- Meals are offered at four dining locations. Payment options include cash, credit cards, and pre-purchased meal plans

Athletics
Incarante Word is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division II and a member of the Heartland Conference. Our athletes consistently receive conference and division accolades for performance both in the classroom and on the court, field, pool, and track.
