Hi! My name is Magda Victoria Esparza and I am a sophmore here at the University of the Incarnate word, majoring in Music Industry Studies. I graduated from Antonian College Preparatory in May 2006, and attended St. Matthew’s Catholic School for nine years.

I had originally planned on attending another university here in town for my basics and transferring to an out of state university following that for their Music Industry program. After receiving a phone call two weeks before the fall 2006 semester began, I had a sudden change of heart. I applied back in February 2006 to see if I would get in. After receiving my acceptance letter not too long after that, I thought I wouldn’t like “another private school.” Switching schools at the last minute was by far one of the best decisions I know I have ever made. The school, professors, and people are all everything and more I had expected college life to be. The professors here really want to see you succeed, and are always willing to help you, as opposed to a larger university where you may very well never even speak to your instructor. This is just one of the many reasons why I find success here at the University such an attainable goal.

I am currently a work study in the Office of Admissions, a Student Ambassador, and a member of the UIW Chorale. I plan on getting even more involved as my time here progresses, I know for a fact that choosing the University of the Incarnate Word was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I think everyone should consider attending this wonderful institution.
