“Teaching writing and literature is very important to our students because it fosters the critical thinking skills they need for life beyond the college classroom. Unlike larger institutions where a student might be in a class of 300 students, our smaller classes allow me to work with each student individually. Additionally, I make myself available to my students outside of the classroom so that they can ask questions as they work on their papers or read the assignments. Many of our students need help learning how to read, study, and use the library. I consider it my job to guide them through that learning process which will then help them succeed in their chosen discipline.”
