He came to UIW in fall 2004 after teaching at Illinois State University, St. Edward's University, Frank Phillips College, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and West Texas A&M University. Excluding Illinois State University, Robinson has served as head athletic trainer at each institution. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the ATEP.

The vision of the ATEP is to prepare our students to be competent and confident health care providers in the community and school settings. For those of you that are familiar with the profession, athletic training is an allied health care profession recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) that specializes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, management and rehabilitation of athletic related injuries and illnesses. Our program includes a didactic aspect and clinical aspect.

"In the didactic component of the program, I try to engage students within my lectures and lab activities to provide them with a better understanding of the anatomical and physiological aspects of the injuries and conditions they may observe when they graduate. In the clinical aspect of the program, our students learn how to apply the clinical proficiencies on actual clientele through the supervision of clinical preceptors. Our program uses on and off-campus clinical preceptors to help guide the student. These are the true teachers of the profession."

“Besides teaching, I am actively engaged with the students outside class. My door is always open, students always come by my office just to discuss and share personal stories. Along with stopping by, I also advise and tutor athletic training majors. At UIW, I think the student gets more the personal attention needed to be successful at any major. Our alumni have commented that they always had the feeling that someone listened and cared about their education."
