Andrea Cyterski-Acosta, Dean of Enrollment

A native of Pennsylvania who now calls Texas home, Andrea has over 20 years of admissions experience. She has a BS degree and MS degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Javier Lara, Director of Admissions Systems and Data Management

Javier Lara is from El Paso, TX where he graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School.  He graduated from Concordia University of Texas in Austin, TX earning a Bachelor of Arts double majoring in Communication and Behavioral Sciences.  He recently earned his master’s degree in Human Sciences.

Javier assists all transfer students with their college choice and visits the following schools:

  • Northwest Vista College
  • Palo Alto College
  • San Antonio College
  • St. Phillips College

A word from Javier:

For me, at UIW, the Word is Accessibility!  My staff and I travel to the community colleges to visit with students on their campuses and at times convenient to them.  UIW staff and faculty are open to meet with prospective student who want to know more about the campus, academic programs and admissions requirements.  It is not unusual to be able to come to campus and visit with a counselor in the admissions office or a member of the financial aid office at times that are convenient to you.

Fabian is from Poteet, TX where he attended Poteet High School.  He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In 2011 he received his Master of Arts degree in Communications.

Stephanie is a San Antonio native and graduate from Madison High School.  In May of 2009 she graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a B.A. in Communication Arts.  She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Communication Arts.

A word from Stephanie:

For me, at UIW, The WORD is Outgoing!  When I was a freshman in college, I was very shy but the friendly environment and small classes made me feel that I was safe and I became a more confident student and person.  Being a part of student groups like the Logos (UIW’s student newspaper) gave the opportunity to grow and interact with many people from the UIW community.  My high school teachers would never guess that I would enjoy speaking in front of people and I owe a lot of my personal growth to Incarnate Word.

As a cheerleader, I learned the importance of team work and team spirit.  Both are important skills that I use every day when introducing UIW to prospective students.

Vanessa Villalpando, Admissions Counselor

 

Vanessa is a Houston native and graduate of John Jay High School. She graduated from University of The Vanessa VillalpandoIncarnate Word in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Latin American Studies. In 2010 she received a Master of Arts from St. Mary’s University in International Relations.

For me, at UIW, The word is Growth. As a student at UIW, I had the opportunity to not only earn a bachelor’s degree, participate in Alpha Phi Omega, work on campus and be a part of several organizations, I was also given the opportunity to study abroad in Brazil which allowed me to grow and develop in all aspects of my life.
