RecycleMania

RecycleMania

Our University is considered one of the most beautiful in South Texas, and for good reason. Students and faculty participate in many ecologically friendly initiatives; including a comingled recycle system, nature preserve, community garden, and the construction of a 100% solar-powered facility. These reasons, along with a strong campus spirit, make UIW a contender in the 2014 RecycleMania program: a competition amongst the nation’s leading schools in sustainability to promote good recycling habits to their students & faculty.

Students are encouraged to place their used bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard into the blue and green totes found in and around campus. Competition based on weight of recycled goods between February 2nd and March 29th. RECYCLEMANIA is all about motivating individuals on college and university campuses to recycle and reduce waste.  Our work starts with recognizing that recycling is a social marketing issue; we are promoting the adoption of a behavior for the well-being of the community and environment.
