What are the admissions requirements for this program?
Admission to doctoral study is restricted to applicants whose backgrounds show promise of scholarship in the field of study. The admissions decision is based on a comprehensive profile of the applicant. Before admission to the program, an applicant must submit
- evidence of an earned Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- official transcripts of all previous college work
- two letters of recommendation, at least one from a professional colleague or academic advisor
- an interview with the Program Admissions Committee
- a supervised writing sample
- other criteria as specified by the concentration
Regardless of English proficiency documentation, all international applicants from non-English speaking countries will be evaluated for English proficiency upon arrival at UIW. If English proficiency is deemed lower than UIW's 109, the student may not be allowed to take courses other than English as a Second Language until the deficiency is removed.

Do I have to take the GRE?
No, under the current catalog the GRE is not an admissions requirement for this degree.
What is the deadline for application?
For Summer/Fall admission
Files must be completed by March 1 (starting 2009, March 15 for 2008 as advertised),
Interviews and writing samples to be scheduled mid-March
Decisions will be made in time for the regular advising period in April
For Spring admission
Files must be completed by October 1 (starting 2008)
Interviews and writing samples to be scheduled mid-October
Decisions will be made in time for the regular advising period November

Can I register online?
After your first semester at UIW, you are able to register for classes using our online system. You will get your PIN number from your advisor to access the system.
